Company Description: Friends serves nutritious meals in a dignified manner with love to the homeless or needful six days a week. - A dinner meal is served from 5 PM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday. - A lunch meal is served from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday. - No meals are served on Sunday, however, a sack lunch is provided to guests by volunteer groups at the Saturday meal which is intended to provide our guests a meal for their use on Sunday.Our communities have thousands of homeless and food insecure individuals seeking food, suffering, or both. Friends started 1998 because it was believed by Friends founders that no one should go hungry in one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. There existed agencies and programs directed to the disadvantaged and yet there was dumpster diving, substandard nutrition and panhandling accompanied by isolation of those in need. Friends serves its guests through volunteers and donations, lead by volunteer officers and directors and a staff of one truly incredible Meal Coordinator and teams of volunteer assistant meal coordinators.In addition to the provision of a nutritious meal served in a dignified manner with love, Friends, its volunteers and its neighbors want to help individuals resolve the issues that have led to or sustain a state of food insecurity or homelessness. In addition to meals, we render basic social services and are growing this capacity, driven by our mission: Food for living. Tools for life.
